I am a dedicated, caring, former classroom educator who wants to see your succeed! I have a BA in Chemistry and a Masters of Arts in Teaching, Secondary Science. I love working with people and motivating them to success. I am ambitious but laid back in my approach to life. From my experience, I understand how beneficial one-on-one instruction can be, allowing my students to ask as many questions as needed and practice the skills multiple times with guidance and support.
While completing my undergraduate degree in Chemistry, I fully discovered my joy of working with students and spent 2 years in Student Affairs at a private, 4-year institution before pursuing a teaching career. As a classroom teacher for the last 8 years, I have worked with many diverse learners. I have experience teaching Chemistry, Physical Science, Integrated Earth Space Science, Forensic Science, Conceptual Physics, and Biology. I have also conducted RTI for Algebra I as well as ACT Prep, mainly focused on the science portion. I have recently left the classroom to work in a Chemical Laboratory formulating cleaning and metal-working products.
I have worked with diverse learners, providing enrichment and remediation for all levels. I am passionate about science and enjoy sharing that passion with my students. I make learning entertaining and engaging through my teaching methods, often sharing funny ways to remember the nuances of science. I try to employ multiple methods for learning the subject matter. I strive to be a learner myself, always seeking out new information.
As your tutor, I will work hard to see you succeed. With enough notice, I can help with multiple disciplines but prefer to focus on the natural sciences and math. I prefer to meet in public study locations such as Libraries or coffee shops, but am opening to determining a more convenient location for my students. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. No shows/no calls will be charged for the scheduled time for tutoring.
In your email, let me know what you hope to get out of tutoring? What is the name of the course and the textbook? How long and how frequent you would like to meet? What can I do to prepare for the first tutoring session?
Thank you for your interest, I look forward to working with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from Hanover College which involved intensive study of organic chemistry and laboratory practices. After college, I began teaching high school science, first an integrated earth science course, then physical science and finally after 2 years chemistry. I have taught chemistry for the last 4 years.
Completed an introductory organic and biochemistry course as a high school, then pursued an undergraduate degree in chemistry with a organic chemistry focus. My focus included Organic Chemistry I and II as well as an independent study of the organic synthesis of trans-chrysanthemumic acid.
