Hola, I'm Ed! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, with a minor in Linguistics from Indiana University at Bloomington (IU). I have experience tutoring and educating all ages, from elementary level, to college students to adult learners. I have advanced fluency in Spanish and English (obviously). I also have a intermediate level, but with native intuition, of Russian as well. I have, despite my minor, years of auto-didactic study and knowledge of linguistics, including personal research into obscure languages and topics. Such languages include Central Tarahumara, Irish and Munsee. I do not claim fluency in these languages, but rather I have studied the grammars and lexicons of each respectively. do aim for fluency in all of them one day! At IU, I sought to specialize in one specific knowledge, and to hone my ability in Spanish, and in the end I came out fluent. It was the level of persistence over not just my college years, but a total of 7 years that led me to where I am today.
From the personal testimony of those who I have worked with, I have demonstrated unusual patience, a sense of thoroughness, and at times an eccentricity for flair and fun. I have tutored and taught Spanish before, as well as Russian, English, and even Irish. With elementary school students, I have made the lessons fun, engaging, and rewarding. I broke it down for them in a way that was approachable, and not too daunting, to give kids the confidence they needed to learn and feel they got something out of it. With college students, I was able to engage their questions critically and give them clear answers that they sought. I made my lessons to-the-point, but also engaging and have a sense of building a real connection to the topic. With adults, I meet them where they are at in their knowledge, and develop an intuition of the topic.
With all students, parents, guardians and people concerned, I am easy to reach, and I am more than able to meet you where you are at, whether with time, concerns or suggestions.
