I am a math tutor from southern Indiana with a sympathetic teaching philosophy: Math is hard, so I work not only to effectively teach what is in a course's curriculum but also to instill in my students the confidence needed to be proficient problem-solvers. I handcraft exercises and examples tailored to a particular student's needs. Oftentimes, a well-placed example is the key to understanding.

Students of mine can expect coaching on problem-solving strategy, emphasis on obtaining intuition instead of just memorizing formulas, and direction towards learning resources that I personally have found useful over the years. To those taking the SAT and ACT, I offer a wealth of testing strategies that I have carefully curated during my academic career.

I performed in math competitions in high school, leading as team captain from 10th grade on. We competed in the Regional Indiana Math Superbowls in which many questions were to be solved in 20-40 seconds. I also have knowledge of many resources (particularly from Art of Problem Solving) to prepare students for these contests.

Calculus is foundational to all higher mathematics. I have taken the full Northwestern MENU Multivariable Calculus sequence and have taken Differential Geometry, a course which generalizes the results of Multivariable Calculus.

Geometry is a ticket to higher mathematics. I have strong geometric intuition that has been developed over many years. In my free time, I like to derive geometry theorems to keep my mathematical mind sharp. Any student I tutor in geometry will not only have access to a capable teacher that can demonstrate the base material, but also expound upon it and explain its origins and reasoning.

I took advanced courses in Linear Algebra at Northwestern during my undergrad and have a strong grasp of linear trasnformations and matrix algebra. I can explain everything from row reduction to eigenvectors to change of basis matrices clearly while also explaining the reasoning behind them.
