I am a life long learner who loves to help people grow and develop. I graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. I maintained an A average obtaining my teaching license during my graduate coursework. I taught high school math for three years: Algebra I, Precalculus/Trigonometry, Probability & Statistics, AP Statistics, & Algebra I ECA review.

I work with students to develop strategies (both general & personal) for the Math section that will help them improve their score. I also taught high school mathematics for three years. I have been helping students prepare for the ACT since 2014. I have helped students achieve scores of 33+ (including 36) on the Reading section of the test. I work with students giving them both general and individual strategies, dealing with paired passages as well as time management tips to be successful on the Reading test.

The math (quantitative reasoning) portion of the GRE covers four topics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, & data analysis. I taught high school mathematics for three years and have been tutoring for over 2 half years. The subjects I taught were Algebra I, ECA Algebra I Review, Precalculus & Trigonometry, AP Statistics, & Probability & Statistics. The first two topics of the GRE cover things that I taught/tutor in algebra. I have been tutoring geometry students for more than two years. The topics covered in data analysis are things that I taught in my AP Statistics and Probability & Statistics courses.

While obtaining my teaching license I was student teacher for Pre-Algebra for a semester in a middle school. As a licensed teacher I taught three years in a high school setting. I have been helping students prepare for the SAT since 2014. I have helped students achieve scores as high as 780 on the Math section. I work with students to develop strategies (both general & personal) for the Math test that will help them improve their score. I have also helped students prepare for the SAT Subject Test in Mathematics Level 1 & Level 2. I helped students improve their score on both the Level 1 and Level 2 test and achieve scores as high as 790. I taught high school mathematics for three years. I have been helping students prepare for the SAT since 2014. I have helped students increase their score on the Reading and Writing section of the SAT to 700+ (760 high). I work with students giving them both general and individual strategies for the Reading section and the Writing section as well as help with time management.

I taught Trigonometry for two years in a high school setting. I have also been tutoring Trigonometry students since 2014. I have been successful in helping students to understand the subject material.

Strategic and individualized tutor

Maurice helped my daughter to target in on skills in math that she didn’t understand. He provided her with strategies for thinking through those problems and gave her a scaffold instead of just giving her the right answer. He was knowledgeable, patient , and thorough. Before the lesson he gave us books to purchase to enhance the tutoring experience. I was pleased that those books were economical and gave her a common place to refer to for practice on her own. Loved his attention to detail, encouragement, and smooth transitions.
