Hola! My name is Abby Lemming, and I am a licensed high school Spanish teacher excited to help you learn and grow in Spanish.
I graduated from Marian University in December 2024 with a B.A. in P–12 Education and Spanish, along with a minor in Pastoral Leadership. I hold a P–12 Spanish teaching license and am currently completing my first year of full-time teaching. In addition to my classroom experience, I have several years of tutoring experience, including working with college students during my undergraduate studies and completing my student teaching in Fall 2024.
My teaching approach is rooted in Comprehensible Input (CI), which means I focus on making Spanish understandable and meaningful to you. This includes repetition, gestures, storytelling, and creative activities that help you retain knowledge long-term rather than just memorizing for a test.
While I have a strong teaching philosophy, I truly believe the most effective learning happens when instruction is tailored to the student. If you know how you learn best, whether through visuals, conversation, structure, movement, or guided practice, I will adapt our sessions to support your learning style.
I began studying Spanish in high school and quickly fell in love with the language. I didn’t originally plan to major in Spanish in college, but after encouragement from a professor who is now a mentor and colleague, I added the major, and it has completely shaped my life and career.
I am passionate about helping students overcome fear, build confidence, and experience success. Whether you are taking your very first Spanish class, refining advanced skills, preparing for exams, or learning phrases for travel, I am here to support you.
Language learning takes time, and there is no final destination. It is a lifelong journey. My goal is to help you grow not just in Spanish, but in confidence as a learner.
