Hello! My name is Bonny. I help international women who have already learned some English but feel hesitant or nervous when it is time to speak. My small group classes are designed to bridge the gap between "classroom English" and the real-world, situational English you need for life in the United States.
Every lesson I design has a clear, practical objective. Rather than studying grammar in isolation, I integrate vocabulary and structure directly into the context of U.S. culture. We will focus on real-world moments, from managing errands and medical appointments to confidently making small talk at a social gathering or communicating with your child's teacher.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education and am a TEFL-certified instructor. My professional background includes a decade of teaching English abroad in various settings, from one-on-one private classes to large classroom environments. I also served as a Mentor of Teachers, where I was responsible for modeling best practices and coaching new educators on effective instructional strategies. Most recently, I have worked within my local community to help newly arrived adults develop their English skills to make a successful transition to life in the U.S.
I use the Communicative Language Teaching approach because I believe language is best learned through active use. I lived and worked in a different country myself, so I have firsthand experience with the frustration that comes from managing daily life in a second language. I know exactly how it feels to have a clear thought in your mind but struggle to express it quickly. My goal is to create a supportive, low-stress environment where you can practice these skills.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
