Hello, my name is Carsten, and I am a professional wildlife biologist with over four years of tutoring and teaching experience for both upper high school (AP-level) and college students. I gained much of this experience while earning my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where I discovered how much I enjoy helping students truly understand science.
I have worked as a tutor for high school students and as a graduate teaching assistant, teaching biology and ecology courses to college freshmen and sophomores. These experiences taught me how to explain complex concepts clearly, including interpreting graphs, ecological models, and connecting theory to real-world examples.
I work with students in biology, ecology, and environmental science, focusing on conceptual understanding, confidence with figures and data, and strong scientific reasoning. Sessions typically review course material, work through practice questions, and clarify difficult concepts so students leave with a clear plan for what to study next.
My teaching style is organized, structured, and student-focused, with each session tailored to the student’s level and goals—whether strengthening AP foundations or exploring deeper college theory. Students often report improved confidence on exams, clearer understanding of figures, and less stress with complex topics. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them feel confident, prepared, and capable in science.
