As an experienced high school science teacher, I truly find joy in helping students see the world in new and interesting ways. Fostering excitement for the natural world has always been a source of great fulfillment for me. Furthermore, I always look for ways to build positive relationships with my students, as I have found that learning is much easier when there is an environment of respect present. The wellbeing and success of my students is always my top priority.
While working in the public schools, I gained 28 years of experience teaching different science fields in multiple grades. I focused on the natural sciences, including earth and space science, biology, oceanography, and meteorology. Later in my career, I added the immensely interesting topic of forensic science to my teaching repertoire.
My specialty involved teaching a standards-based curriculum in an innovative and exciting way. I enjoyed teaching through experiments, projects, and integrated technology in order to gain maximum student engagement. Throughout my career, I developed a deep understanding of the teaching techniques that help students understand and succeed.
As I am now retired from public school teaching, I would like to bring my instruction expertise and passion for science to students through tutoring. I look forward to helping students master science content and develop genuine interest in the world around them. I have a very flexible schedule and am easy to reach.
