Indiana University and Ivy Tech College (Business and Technology)
Thank you for taking the time to consider me as your educational tutor. First, I would like to tell you a little about my background. I am currently President and Lead Mentor for Connersville Robotics in Connersville (we build FIRST and VEX robots and seek scholarships for high school students). Been building robots in Fayette County for 13 years now and I am also a Robotics Educational Consultant. I attended Indiana University and IVY Tech College with majors toward Computer Technology and Business.
I offer 11 years of experience in education. I taught middle and high school students for 1 year at a Christian school and was an Indiana Paraprofessional for 10 years. There have been a variety of subjects: Computers, Science, Social Studies, English, Speech, Creative Writing, and Drama. Further, I have been tutoring an elementary student and own an Indiana Department of Education Substitute Teaching permit. My experiences with my students over the years have been wonderful. It has driven me to pursue coaching and educational non-profits so that I may continue teaching young adults and have a positive influence in their lives. I love to see others succeed.
Many tutors do not have experience in special education but I do. One of my paraprofessional years, I taught in a special education classroom and 2 more of them I taught in my own Resource classroom with students who had a variety of learning disabilities. Mentoring in robotics has also allowed me to work with students with special needs. I understand that every child is different and learn in different ways.
Along with understanding Indiana State Standards, I can provide support for research, documentation, and computer training. My experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Open Office is very beneficial. I offer many years of experience in training students and adults in computer usage and software. I have IT experience and even operated and maintained a Computer Lab for students. My list of software knowledge is extensive.
I can also assist with any test prep and I have experience proctoring written and online testing (ISTEP, NorthWest, and CORE40).
As far as back ground checks, I have been approved by from 6 different organizations. Also, letters of recommendation will be provided to you, if requested.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with you.
Best Regards. Hello!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Clarinet (woodwind family) was my instrument of choice. I learned to play it and was a member of the Fayette County School bands from 7th grade through 12th. I also played Bass Clarinet and Eb Alto Bass Clarinet. Being a "Band Geek" was my high school activity of choice. I loved Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pep Band. I still have my restored clarinet and will never part with it.
