Hi, I'm Dan! I'm a dad, youth sports coach, and problem solver who enjoys helping students realize that success in math is not as far away as they imagine.
I've been working with my own elementary- and middle school-aged children since 2017, and I've tutored high school students in geometry and algebra since fall 2025. In college, I ran my own classroom as a computer science (CS) undergraduate teaching assistant. In the corporate world, I've composed and taught technical classes in CS subjects including SQL and large software packages.
Here's what I've learned: most students struggle not because they can't do math, but because no one has shown them why it matters. My approach focuses on practical applications and real world examples. When a geometry student sees how architects use angles or how engineers apply the Pythagorean theorem, suddenly it's not just formulas. It's a tool they can use.
I hold a Computer Science degree from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
My teaching style is patient, relational, visual, and hands on. I ask questions to check understanding, use diagrams, and focus on building genuine comprehension instead of memorizing formulas. Both of my sons are top math students in their classes, which gives me firsthand insight into what actually works. I've also seen my tutoring students gain confidence and improve their grades in just a few sessions. And we have fun doing it.
I tutor middle school and high school math, including geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus. I also work with students on introductory computer science topics like Python and logical problem solving. I'm available for in-person sessions in the Carmel/Westfield/Zionsville area or online, with flexible evening and weekend scheduling.
If you're looking for someone who will patiently work through concepts and make math matter, I'd love to help!
