I received a Ph.D. In math from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in math from Wellesley College. I was a visiting assistant professor at Purdue University. I have over fourteen years of teaching math in a wide range of settings including one-on-one tutoring, summer programs for gifted students, and over five years of teaching courses at the university level. I have taught multiple semesters of Calculus and multiple semesters of Linear Algebra at the university level.

I have been tutoring math for almost two decades and have tutored middle, high school, and undergraduate students to help each student meet their learning goals. I am able to tutor SAT Math, ACT Math, SSAT/ISEE Math, GRE Math, Precalculus, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, etc. As a tutor, my goals are twofold. The first goal is to help students build conceptual and technical proficiency in math while simultaneously cultivating the skills for analytic thinking and effective communication in STEM. The second goal is to impart confidence in and an appreciation for math. It is always a wonderful experience for me when a student has that “aha!” moment with a difficult concept or problem!

I believe that learning math involves actively doing and solving a lot of math. In general, my tutoring sessions consist of 1) short mini-lesson reviewing relevant definitions and facts where I break down formal concepts into informal, more intuitive language and provide concrete step-by-step approaches to problems which is then followed by 2) extensive problem solving sessions where the student and I will work through problems to reinforce and solidify the student's understanding of the material.

Please feel free to send me a message with any questions! I look forward to hearing from you. My rate per hour is on a sliding scale based on the subject requested with higher rates for more advanced topics.

ISEE

ISEE

The ISEE is a standardized test similar to the SSAT for applications to competitive middle and high school students. I have tutored both the SSAT and ISEE regularly for over 10 years. The ISEE tends to have a harder math section which is similar to the math GRE -- which I have also tutored extensively -- and given my math background, I have the necessary qualifications to tutor this subject test.
