I have 11 years of various classroom experiences and tutoring from elementary to high school level. I have tutored college-level writing as well. Currently I am teaching Algebra II and Geometry, while tutoring.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees, as well as teaching licenses in k-6 General Education, Secondary Math, and K-12 ESOL. Prior to teaching, I studied and practiced architecture.
I can help students with missing classwork, homework, and improve weaker skills. I can create fun, educational activities and projects. I understand that many students need more time and practice with math. It can be very frustrating. I always empathize with students, find what they do understand, compliment their correct explanations, and encourage them to always try. I will not make students feel bad for not knowing something. My goal is to get students to be confident enough to share answers in class and improve their overall grade. For students who are doing well in math and other subject, I like to extend learning with projects that are interesting to them. For example, using algebra to start a small business or writing an alternate ending to their favorite movie.
I look forward to helping my students be successful with their goals. I hope to hear from you soon!
