Hello, I’m Alexandra! I am a current Jacobs School of Music graduate student, and in 2024, I graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University receiving my bachelor’s degree in violin performance and a minor in Russian Studies.

Coming up on my 20th year of violin study, I believe now that those teachers who have changed my life the most have been willing to work through practicing as a skill. It’s one thing to expect a student to come prepared to a lesson, but far more rewarding to be taught how to learn on your own in the first place. I offer lessons with guidance for how to practice, and well as challenges suitable to every student, no matter whether you’re beginning or an advanced.

I have taught private lessons since 2020, as well as led sectionals, Q&A sessions and masterclasses in public middle and elementary schools across the Houston, TX area since 2017. I also believe in the power of ear training for the study of music, and have had experience as a teacher’s assistant at Vanderbilt University for a secondary ear training class.

My goal is to encourage a love of music, no matter what goals a student may have, and I believe this is done through awareness for every student’s needs and as much parent involvement as possible for younger students—this might mean refining technique and reviewing the foundations of playing through etudes and exercises, or fostering a love of learning and accomplishment as a young beginner by “passing off” repertoire suitable for the skill of the student as we introduce greater challenges. I am always looking for feedback, and am available to contact at any time for questions or lesson scheduling

I received my bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance in 2024 from Vanderbilt University, and will receive my master’s degree this May of 2026, from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. I have studied the violin for 20 years, and taught private lessons for 6+ years to students online and in the Houston, TX area. Currently, I do freelance work and perform as a section violinist with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and as a baroque violinist with Bloomington’s Bach Cantata Series.
