Hi! My name is Rei, a cellist currently located in the Boston area. I recently completed my Master's Degree at the Manhattan School of Music, and I also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Harvard University.
I have been a passionate teacher throughout my life - during my undergraduate, I served as a teaching assistant for the engineering department's introductory computer science course (CS50), and I also taught cello both privately and at a local elementary school. After graduating, I worked as a commodities trader, before joining a tutoring company called Tokyo Academics, where I worked full-time and eventually served as Representative Director. At Tokyo Academics, I taught a variety of subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics (up to calculus), and SAT/test prep. I also managed curriculum development projects in science and college counseling, and oversaw hiring of new tutors.
I am also professional cellist with a Master's in Cello Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. I have over 10 years of teaching experience in cello, ranging from beginners to those considering futures in music, and ages 7~23. I've also taught ensembles at music schools in Boston and Japan, and recently as counselor at the Meadowmount School of Music, where I was tasked with managing students' practice hours.
