Hello! I am an Assistant Teaching Professor in the math department at Ball State. I have a BA in Math Teaching, a BS in Mathematics, an MA in Educational Psychology, an MS in Mathematics, and a PhD in Mathematics Education. I taught middle school and high school for 2.5 years, including Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. I have been tutoring professionally since I was in undergraduate (though I say I started "teaching" math in 7th grade).

My research focuses on math anxiety and the struggles students have with mathematics. As such, I am more interested in helping you grow to understand and appreciate math than acing your next exam (though I have taught, so I realize that is what is most important to you at the moment). I have a very relaxed teaching style, and I carry that into my tutoring. I am very inquisitive and explorative in my teaching, meaning I am likely to ask you more questions than you ask me.

I have taught 7th grade math, 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 at the MS and HS levels. I have also taught Business Calculus, Finite Math, and College Algebra/Trigonometry at the college level, and my current teaching focuses on mathematics for elementary education majors. I have tutored students as young as 3rd grade and as old as...well, let's just say I've tutored non-traditional (in other words, returning) college students, as well.

Feel free to reach out and get to know me before booking an appointment. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. As Rita Pierson once said, "Kids don't learn from people they don't like."
