I teach Adobe Illustrator with a focus on fashion design, textile and surface design, pattern development, portfolio development, and other creative applications. I have extensive experience teaching design software and creative processes at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, helping students develop the technical and creative skills needed to bring their design ideas to life. With professional experience in the apparel industry as a designer, textile print designer and tech pack developer I bring a practical, industry-based perspective to my teaching. I can help students learn Illustrator for creating textile prints, repeats, patterns, colorways, technical drawings, fashion flats, and design presentations. Whether you are new to Illustrator or want to strengthen your existing skills, I tailor lessons to your experience and goals. My approach is hands-on and focused on helping you understand not just the tools, but how to use them effectively for your own creative projects. My goal is to help you become comfortable and confident using Illustrator while developing the skills to create professional-quality fashion, interior, textile, and surface designs.

I teach Adobe Photoshop with a focus on fashion design, textile and surface design, interior design, portfolio development, and other creative applications. I taught Photoshop for 12 years at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, where I helped students develop their skills for textile print design and creative design projects. With professional experience in the apparel industry as a designer, patternmaker, and colorist, I bring a practical, industry-based perspective to my teaching. I help students build both technical Photoshop skills and creative confidence while learning how to apply Photoshop effectively to their own design projects, textile prints, presentations, and portfolios. Whether you are new to Photoshop or looking to expand your existing skills, I tailor lessons to your experience and goals. My approach is hands-on and focused on helping you understand the tools and techniques so you can confidently use Photoshop to bring your creative ideas to life.

I teach both expressive fashion illustration and the precise, technical drawing needed for tech packs and production. My background as a self-taught artist and later formal training at Purdue, Ball State, and FIT allows me to bridge creativity with accuracy. I help students build their visual vocabulary, explore media (digital and traditional), and draw the human form in motion, proportionally and with style. You’ll learn to create both conceptual fashion sketches and professional-grade technical drawings used by manufacturers.

Hello! I’m an experienced apparel designer, patternmaker, colorist, and sewing instructor with a passion for helping students develop confidence and creativity through sewing. I taught full-time at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, where I taught patternmaking, draping, and sewing. My professional experience in the apparel industry has also given me hands-on knowledge of garment design, construction, fit, fabrics, and the complete process of bringing a garment from an idea to a finished piece. I work with students at all skill levels, from beginners learning how to thread and operate a sewing machine to more experienced sewists who want to improve their garment construction, patternmaking, or fitting skills. I can help you learn to set up and confidently use a variety of sewing equipment, including straight-stitch sewing machines, sergers/overlock machines, and cover-stitch machines. I can also help with patternmaking, draping, garment construction, fabric selection, sewing techniques, and troubleshooting. My goal is to make sewing approachable and enjoyable while teaching you the skills and techniques you need to work independently. Whether you are making your first garment, improving your sewing skills, learning patternmaking, or working toward a specific project, I can tailor lessons to your individual goals and learning style. Let’s turn your ideas into something you can make and be proud of!
