Since a very young age, I have worked with infants through 8th grade students. I tutored other students in my classes while I was in elementary school, taught infants and toddlers while I was in high school, and since that time, I have designed curriculum for infant through preschool students, managed early learning centers and am a certified substitute for K-8th graders. I have experience in everything elementary subject area. Additionally, I have worked with students that have difficulty focusing and staying on task. All three of my children graduated high school with honors, one is a college grad pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, one is a Senior in college studying Chemistry and one is an entrepreneur, education was a priority in my home.

As a long term substitute, I was able to improve one classroom's students overall math scores by 70%. I am able to encourage even the most hesitant learner to try math. I understand math is in everything and I use this knowledge to broaden a student's understanding of math. Writing equations, is reading, solving equations can be science, following a child's mind can produce wonders in learning that can then be connected to the book or curriculum of study, rather than force a child's mind to focus on the book or curriculum first.

Science offers freedom to have ideas and test them. Science can be messy. Science can open curiosity about how things work around us.

Opening a child's mind to language and the power of reading is also math and music. By using phonics to uncover the magic of a group of letters, children become scientists toward the discoveries of sentences. This grows into the understanding of punctuation (much like reading a math equation) and then the wonders of mysteries in stories, both read and written by a student.

Bring your courage, bring your fear, together we will take your learning to every next level you want to achieve.

Common Core

Common Core

I followed Common Core from its inception in Georgia, understanding the goal was for articulation between higher education programs, so children were exposed to similar topics in similar order across the country, instilling Mastery of the topics as success in learning. I understand children learn in different ways and I encourage them to increase their confidence in their learning methods while also exposing them to other learning methods. Having designed curriculum, I can use one activity to generate knowledge in multiple standard areas.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Math IS in everything! When students are intimidated by math, they don't take risks to learn, I show them ways math can be fun and diminish their fears. I am very familiar with Bridges Math Curriculum. I also support Reggio learning methods that believe children are competent learners.
