Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

During my 8 years of teaching, I have worked with numerous individuals with ADD/ADHD, coordinating with the support teachers to modify and classwork to adhere to students with IEPs in those areas. Having a masters degree in Special Education also allowed me to better support those teachers.

Algebra 1

I have experience tutoring middle school and high school students in basic Algebra while teaching middle school science.

American History

My undergraduate minor gives me an endorsement in teaching middle school through high school American history.

Aspergers

I spent a total of 5 years working at the middle school level with students all over the autism spectrum, including Aspergers. I also hold a masters degree in Special Education and have taken numerous courses on teaching modifications and have conducted research on new teaching methods for individuals with Autism.

I also posses experience working with elementary aged kids, while in California as a Campus Director of an academic day camp.

Aside from taking classes to cover the subject matter, I have, through years of teaching Science, and from years of tutoring, have successfully tutored this subject area for many students.

During my undergraduate studies, I majored in Geography, both physical and cultural. I took numerous courses that delved into cultural geography and analyzed social norms and how those societies interact with one another as a global system, ranging from population, politics, economics, and customs.

I have over 8 years experience working with individuals with special needs and hold a master's degree in special education.
