Hi! I am currently a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. While my major is Painting, I am also on the pre-med track and want to be a doctor in the future. I am passionate about the sciences and arts and I want to share that knowledge and passion with others. I've found through my own learning experience, I'm more motivated to learn if I am excited or at least have an understanding of what I am learning about.
Additionally, I believe that communication is very important. I always welcome suggestions and questions, and always first talk with the student to learn about their interests and how they learn best. Then, I apply and adapt that to the lesson plan, which would also vary depending on the student. As a student myself, I've been through many different studying methods so I am happy to share what I've learned to help a student just study for exams. This is in addition to just teaching new material.
In high school, I was a peer tutor for all 4 years. During my senior year, I was also trained through my school to be a Reading & Writing Center tutor. From those experiences, I gained a foundation on how to be a great and responsible tutor, which I apply to the subjects that I teach. In my high school, I have taken essentially a college-like course in the basic human anatomy and physiology. I also took AP Biology in high school. This previous school year, I took a psychology perception and sensory processes course which was very relevant to AP Psychology from high school, and it also focused on how we perceive things through our senses. Furthermore, I took a Molecular and Cellular Biology course, which was essentially AP Biology and high school biology but it went much more in depth to the cellular level.
