Bio

Hi, I’m Erin, a third-year at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). I am a BA/MD student, meaning I am guaranteed acceptance to the UIC College of Medicine upon graduation.

I began tutoring in eighth grade: I joined a program where I tutored Chicagoan children one-on-one, ages ranging from pre-K to sixth graders. In high school, I was a peer tutor for four years, topics ranging from Chemistry to Algebra I to reviewing essays. Fast forwarding to college, I work part-time in a classroom...

Fast forwarding to college, I work part-time in a classroom setting, helping aspiring Navy enlistees prepare for the ASVAB (military entrance test). Several students have more than doubled their score, freeing them to join the Navy. I am passionate about tutoring because, similar to medicine, I can leave a lasting, positive impact on someone’s life.

I attended New Trier High School and followed a gifted math track up to Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. My application to college included a 5.25/5.33 weighted, 3.9/4.0 unweighted GPA, a 1570 SAT (800 Math, 770 EBRW), and 5’s on several AP tests, including the AP Language and AP Literature exams. My performance led to admission offers from several T20 universities, including an Ivy League institution. I ultimately chose the BA/MD program because of my established commitment to becoming a physician. Being in a guaranteed status has allowed me to pursue a nontraditional major, Sociology of Health and Medicine, and to become a full-scholarship Army ROTC Cadet, which truly disciplines me physically and mentally. Accordingly, I bring unparalleled grit coupled with flexibility to my teaching and seek to inspire these qualities in my students.

Having completed the highest level of academic rigor at New Trier High School and recently achieved a 518 MCAT score (95th percentile), I understand what it takes to succeed in highly competitive environments. That being said, I am available for online sessions anywhere and for in-person tutoring in the Chicago North Shore suburbs and Chicago. Please feel free to send me a chat to learn more!

Amazing tutor

Erin is very intelligent and personable. She can quickly assess where the struggles are and is able to efficiently develop a plan to target those difficult areas. She is also very easy to understand and breaks down complex tasks into manageable tasks. Without a doubt 5 stars--so glad we found her!!

Amazing SAT Prep Tutor!

Erin is very knowledgeable and thorough in teaching SAT math. She helped me review my previously missed questions from a practice SAT test. She was kind and understanding, making sure I stayed engaged and fully understood everything before moving on. She also showed me effective ways to check my answers, which was very helpful! At the end of the session, she showed me how to download the session walkthroughs for future reference. Her teaching style is clear, supportive, and highly effective, and I look forward to more sessions in the future!
