I am a current 1st Grade Teacher and prior Reading Interventionist in Knoxville, Illinois. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Educational Studies, with a focus on Elementary Education, from Knox College. I also have a Master's in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. I am currently working on my Master's in Educational Technology as well.
One thing I pride myself on is my ability to build meaningful relationships with my students and their families. As well as, creating a supportive learning environment where all students are able to flourish. By simply doing that, my students become unafraid of taking risks with their learning. They consistently push themselves to work hard and meet their individual goals.
In the classroom, spending time instructing students in small groups, or individually, allows me to make the biggest impact possible. Guided instruction and independent (individual or small group) exploration are essential components of every lesson. Through this approach, my students learn to become true problem solvers. I always tell my students that the way we learn is by trying and making mistakes. Only by making mistakes can we find the right path to an answer.
