Hi, I’m Doug. I hold an MBA from Roosevelt University and have built my career around clear communication, process design, and technical training. As a Senior Systems Analyst at OptumRx, I’ve written documentation and designed training programs used by thousands of users across the U.S. and offshore. I’ve led enterprise-wide software rollouts, taught Microsoft Excel and Word at all skill levels, and written code in Visual Basic and SQL.
The tutoring method I’ve found most effective is to start with a specific goal and use that target to introduce background, theory, concepts, and best practices. For example, when I was learning to play guitar, my teacher asked me, “What songs do you want to learn?” After I listed a few (my goal), he used them as a way to teach me the underlying music theory, rhythm, and chord structures—building blocks I could apply to any song going forward.
With a strong foundation in business, technology, and content creation, I bring decades of real-world experience to my tutoring practice. Outside of corporate life, I’ve run my own award-winning communications firm, published two business books, and produced and co-hosted a podcast. Whether you're a student, a working professional, or a lifelong learner, I’m here to help you build skills that stick.
