I can help you, I promise! Health Sciences and Nursing are my first passions, but I would love to help you succeed in your studies in school, or if an adult, prepping for your GED or learning to take college courses again after being out of school for a long period (called life!).
I have over 10 years teaching experience with High School students, LPNs and RN students. I completed my Master's degree as Nurse Educator in 2016. The Nursing program I just retired from had a 100% pass rate this year! I also have 10 years homeschooling with my own (adult now) children, so I have experience with elementary grade school work and the challenges.
Of note for students with special needs, I home schooled my daughter, who has Down Syndrome, and my son who has Spina Bifida and is on the Autism Spectrum. I taught them both how to read, write, number awareness, independent living skills, socialization skills, speech and vocabulary, and general ed courses like health science, history, biology and social sciences.
In Nursing, I use the concept based method of teaching critical thinking skills and clinical judgement. I taught Fundamentals, as well as Peds, Endocrine, Mobility, Neoplasms, Oxygenation, Nutrition (including liver) and pharmacology. Nursing is my passion, and including the human-compassion side of learning to be a Nurse is extremely important to me. I took my students to various clinical settings - Nursing homes, med surg floors, cardiac step down, wound clinics, peds clinics. My nursing experience prior to teaching Nursing involved Home Health, ER and Med Surge, Home health being my favorite.
I use a lot of stories and examples when teaching, ask a lot of questions to try and help one fill in the gaps of knowledge and application.
