My name is Alexis, but you can call me Lexi. I earned my B.A. in Mathematics at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. My name is Alexis, but you can call me Lexi. I earned my B.A. in Mathematics at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX. I specialize my tutoring in math subjects as well as preparation for the ACT/SAT. I have freelance tutored for +8 years, helping out with elementary math up to college math courses. I have also went through extensive Test Preparation training as well as have aggressively practiced on my own to be proficient! I have experience working as a Director of Education at a Sylvan Learning Center as well as working in the non-profit sector helping students perform well in their STEM courses. With that said, I've been able to to help students who are levels behind as well as students who are in the top 5% of their cohort, trying to stay on top! With my experience, I'm able to cater each session to best meet the needs of the student at hand. I now continue to support the math needs of the non-profit organization while pursuing my own business ventures, and hopefully to help with your academic needs as well!

For tutoring, we can prepare for tests, tackle homework assignments, breakdown concepts that didn't fully "click" in class, and so much more.I plan to completely cover any topics the student would like, making sure they feel confident in their studies! The session is planned to revolve around you and your needs.

For test prep students, either ACT or SAT, I start with a diagnostic that can be taken at your own time (or with instruction) so we can establish a baseline of areas to improve as well as strengths to hone in on. Once assessed, we can determine score goals, timelines, and ideal long-term session plan. Materials can be provided or recommended.

Algebra is the foundation for any mathematical level above it.We expand, we simplify, we solve. We begin to recognize techniques that help us simplify by combining like terms (and knowing how they're alike!) and using order of operations. The all-important part is solving X, and knowing how to do so. In Algebra I we explore problem solving, inequalities & absolute values, linear equations/ slope, systems of equations, laws of logs & exponents, rationals, quadratics, and radicals. I received an A in Algebra 1 as well as additional tutoring/assisting my peers throughout high school as well as college.

I have assisted in a Vacation Bible School every summer as a leader helping children understand the stories of Christ. In addition, I have attended a Catholic institution ever since kindergarden, which accumulates to 14 years surrounded by biblical references and taking various religion/Catholicism courses. During my high school years, on the varsity team, we won 3 regional championships as well as have placed 1st in our league 3 times. Through these years, I have quickly learned effective drills and training techniques that could help any softball player grow as an athlete.

Excellent in every way!

We could not be happier with Alexis. She is patient and very knowledgeable. Alexis really listens to my daughter and addresses her needs. Alexis is always prepared for our tutoring sessions with problems to work on. She provides feedback after each session and provides me with her plan for the next week. My daughter attended tutoring at Sylvan Learning Center for 9 months, and I can honestly say that she has improved more in her few months of sessions with Alexis than she did at Sylvan. After only 3 sessions,, my daughter's math grade jumped from a 70 to an 86! I would highly recommend Alexis to anyone in need of a math tutor!
