Hi! I'm Aviva. I formerly taught mathematics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Lake County, and Moraine Valley Community College. I was a math lecturer for six years. During that time, I also tutored students on the side in my hometown area. Subjects I have taught include basic, intermediate, and college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, business calculus, calculus I, Mathematical Reasoning, Quantitative Literacy, Math for Elementary Teachers I and II, and Math for Health Sciences. I worked as a course coordinator for a few of those subjects, and oversaw the work of teaching assistants and graders. I also had teaching certification for grades 6-12 in Illinois, although that has expired since I switched professions.
You may have noticed that I am also a doctor. I'm a recent medical school graduate, and decided to tutor while awaiting the start of an internship in the spring. I will be training as a radiologist, in which I hope to utilize some of my math skills. I loved teaching math, and although I am sure I will be very busy and stressed during internship and residency, I hope to continue tutoring and teaching math on the side for fun.
Learning a new subject is tricky for everyone, and we all could use a little help along the way. If you need help with any subject (but especially math!), feel free to reach out to me!
