I am a passionate, and patient mathematics instructor committed to the development of students of all ability levels, with a capacity for and experience in teaching students below grade level, students in college courses, and any student in between. My undergraduate degree is in the teaching of mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I received a Master's degree in Pure Mathematics from DePaul University in 2016. I was a high school mathematics teacher for 10 years, and also was a T.A. and tutor at DePaul University from 2013 to 2016. I have taught students from middle school all the way through adult learners, with the majority of my students being high school.
I strive to present information in a variety of ways, seeking a method that makes the most sense for the student. "When are we ever going to use this?" is a common question my students would ask. But the true essence of math isn't about numbers and figures. It's about developing the skills to think about a problem and ways to determine a solution. Whether I am helping students understand a geometry lesson, study for a pre-calc quiz, or prepare for the ACT, I am happiest when I see the "light switch on" and the student able to make connections.
