As someone with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, psychology, and social work, I have always had a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. During my time in college, I particularly enjoyed helping my fellow students with their writing assignments. Whether they were struggling with grammar, structure, or simply generating ideas, I found great satisfaction in guiding them toward success.
This realization led me to pursue a job as a writing tutor at my college. In this role, I worked with undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of different majors and backgrounds. Each student brought their unique perspectives and challenges to the table, and I relished the opportunity to help them overcome their writing obstacles.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned as a writing tutor was the importance of tailoring my approach to each student. I quickly discovered that what worked for one student might not work for another. Some students needed help with organization and structure, while others needed help with grammar or citing sources. By getting to know each student's strengths and weaknesses, I was able to customize my tutoring sessions to meet their specific needs.
Providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment for students is essential. Writing can be daunting, and many students feel anxious or overwhelmed when faced with a blank page. By creating a safe space for them to express their ideas and receive constructive feedback, I helped them feel more confident and motivated in their writing.
As a tutor, I prioritize ensuring that the students I work with benefit from our sessions. To help further achieve this, I welcome any and all resources or suggestions. I look forward to working with you!
