Hey! I'm Hamza, a current Bioengineering student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout high school, I was inspired by teachers and older peers that made challenging subjects like math and science more digestible and fun to learn. After tutoring my little sister and younger cousins for many years, I realized I had a passion for teaching and fostering a sense of love for math and science in who I worked with.
I have volunteered as a peer tutor for four years of high school, in the form of one-on-one sessions and small groups. I taught math from Algebra 1 through Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra, sciences including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and Anatomy/Physiology, and some social sciences including AP Macroeconomics and AP US Government. As a sophomore in high school, I began gaining professional experiences as a tutor outside of school by working at Mathnasium for ~2 years. I primarily tutored younger students, from Kindergarten through 8th grade, in one-on-one or in small groups of up to 5 students, exposing me to new teaching methods and strategies.
I'm passionate about making an impact in the lives of students I work with. I hope to help students achieve the grades they want, while also hopefully inspiring a better appreciation for the subjects they're learning. As a student who's taken these classes recently, I understand where common mistakes can be made and I hope to guide students through those challenges with clarity and patience.
