I taught high school mathematics for five years and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Mathematics Education. In college, I worked as a tutor and auditor for remedial college math classes as well.
I love working with students in a one-on-one setting. I think that coupled with a genuine interest in learning and improving that often comes with students seeking tutors really helps exponentially grow knowledge and confidence.

Please let them know that Mariah did well with relating to the student. She uses white board to explain processes and principles and continually reviews to check for understanding by student. She also reviews using previously learning to bridge old information to new learning. Also allows time for practice of both old and new material and sets stage for next lesson

Mariah did an amazing job with my 14 year old son helping him with his Algebra and getting his grade up. She spent the necessary time having him do to the work along side her, and figuring out where his misunderstanding was, and then helping him through it. She was able to connect with him in a non intimidating way. He actually enjoyed having her help and felt confident when she left. I had tried to help him and he was not nearly as receptive. She knows her stuff and worked through everything with him. We will definitely have her come back when he needs more help!
