DePaul University - Elementary, Mathematics (Elementary Education)
Concordia University - Chicago - Masters of Arts in Teaching, Secondary Math Education (Enrolled)
I recently graduated from graduate school at Concordia University with my Master of Arts in Teaching - Secondary Math Education.
I also graduated from De Paul University with a Bachelor's in elementary teaching with a math specialty. I am a licensed teacher and love helping students understand concepts and am empathetic towards their learning.
I believe every student can learn and succeed. I think tutors should explain things in simple ways and work until the student fully understands a concept before moving on.
I have acquired more than 900 hours of tutoring experience over the past 6 years. Throughout that time I have tutored algebra, geometry, trigonometry, ACT, PSAT, HSPT and SAT prep.
When tutoring for test prep, I use an individualized approach. I teach content as well as test taking strategies. I utilize practice tests to give the student a real feel of what the official test will be like, as well as for use as practice passages to gain confidence.
I do my best to respond as quickly as possible. I also am available for last minute tutoring!
If you have any questions or concerns, just let me know!

Margaret is an excellent tutor. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would recommend her services to anyone in need of tutoring.
Margaret has made a marked difference with my daughter's performance in geometry. Her grades have improved and her confidence raised.
She is able to provide a clear understanding of any challenge that my daughter has faced, and my daughter actually looks forward to her tutoring sessions!
Genuinely concerned, Margaret provides the best educational skills possible.
Margaret is always very patient, understanding and helpful with my boys. She is firm and yet knows when to "let up". Margaret is very prepared and provides great insight to assist the student in test preparation by providing concrete proof of areas of strength and weakness. Margaret also goes above and beyond to keep parents informed with clear, concise reporting.
WyzAnt sends rating requests after each session and I never gave Margaret anything but the highest number of stars possible. She's a gem!
Margaret was quick to respond to my request for tutoring in Algebra. My son has had 2 sessions with her and both have been very helpful for him. Margaret showed him different techniques to better understand his lessons. This has extremely helped him. I scheduled a tutoring lesson to help my son prior to a test and he received an A. I am extremely content with the tutoring. We will continue to use Margaret on an ongoing basis for Math.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have effectively tutored a few students in the COOP/HSPT test for admittance into high school. I use prep books to teach content as well as test taking strategies for the COOP/HSPT.
I have tutored test prep for over 4 years. I have helped students with the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The following sections are on the ISEE: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, mathematics achievement, and an essay. There is a lower level (for grades 5-6) a middle level (for grades 7-8) and an upper level (for grades 9-12). I can help prepare for all sections.
I have tutored test taking strategies and test prep for a few years. I use an individualized approach and am deeply interested in helping students improve their scores.
