I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology after also studying biology during my undergraduate career. My academic background has given me experience in research, writing, history, human biology, and critical thinking, and I enjoy helping students better understand difficult concepts in a way that feels approachable and manageable. I currently work in educational outreach, where I regularly help students and families navigate college preparation, financial aid, organization, and academic planning.
Much of my experience involves one-on-one support and communication with students from a wide range of backgrounds. Through both academic and professional settings, I have worked with high school and college-age students on improving writing skills, study habits, organization, and comprehension. I believe that patience and adaptability are extremely important in tutoring because every student learns differently. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel more confident asking questions and working through challenges independently.
I especially enjoy tutoring subjects connected to anthropology, history, biology, writing, and social sciences. I also have extensive experience conducting independent genealogy and historical research, which has strengthened my ability to analyze sources, explain complex information clearly, and teach research methods step-by-step. I strive to create a relaxed, supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged rather than intimidated, and where learning can feel engaging and rewarding instead of stressful.
