Hi, my name is Evin K and I am currently a second year medical school student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. I am looking to help improve medical school applications whether that be personal statements, activity section writing, secondary applications, or even post-bacc/SMP personal statements. I had a troubled pre-med path where I had to recover from a sub-par undergraduate GPA with a Masters program in which I graduated top of my class. Most people are aware that GPA is extremely important for medical school applicants, and despite graduating at the top of my class in my Masters program and applying to medical school with 53 credits of a 4.0, my poor undergraduate GPA was still a red flag for medical schools. Despite this, I received multiple MD school acceptances during my application cycle and that was due to my application writing. I was able to form a very strong personal statement and cohesive activities section to where every aspect of my application made sense and displayed who I was as a person. This is often hard for most applicants to accomplish, so I hope to lend a helping hand with forming the best medical school application you can have, giving you a successful application cycle and therefore saving you thousands of dollars as well.
I have already helped multiple students with their personal statements and medical school applications over the past three years all of which are now current or newly accepted MD and DO students. My style is both a direct editing approach along with consulting and asking meaningful questions to guide the student themselves in making improvements in their writing to make it as organic as possible. Not only does it produce writing that is authentic to the individual, but it also builds the skills required to be independent and be a stronger writer for academic applications. Along with this, I have tutored as a TA in graduate school and currently mentor undergraduate students through an affiliated program with my medical school.
