My name is Peter, and I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Math from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science from The University of Chicago. I was a professor in a computer science department for 27 years, where I mostly taught Discrete Structures, Algorithms, Theory of Computation (Finite Automata, Grammars, Turing machines, Complexity Theory) and Cryptography.

I have tons of experience working with students one-on-one, and this is perhaps my favorite part about teaching. My goal is to help you, starting from the level that you are currently at, and work from there to help you reach your goal, whether it be SAT math test prep, preparation for high school or college course, or help during a course on homework or exams. I like to work through many examples with you and get you to the point where you are able to do new problems on your own without any help.
I was in charge of the Tutoring Program at my university for 16 years, so not only do I have experience tutoring, but I have also trained tutors! I worked for The Princeton Review teaching their Math SAT Prep Course. I also have done volunteer tutoring for a GED high school equivalency program, and I taught theoretical computer science for a Talented Youth Program for junior high school students.
