Hello! My name is Emily, and am eager to help you succeed. I have 15 years of experience teaching composition and creative writing at the college level, in both the classroom and one on one through office hours for students who have questions or need more help. I have tutored for 3-4 years, including neurodivergent and ESL students.
In my composition, research, and creative writing classes (including fiction and poetry), I have provided feedback to students with the goal of revision. In tutoring, I can do the same, but I can also help with writing development, including helping students brainstorm topics for their essays.
I am comfortable and able to tutor teens and college-level writers in English, writing, and proofreading. I can help with multiple types of essays, from autoethnography and personal essays to research projects.
I have a BA in Creative Writing from Purdue University, and a MFA in Creative Writing from Fresno State University. I’ve studied abroad in Cuba and England, and have experience with different cultures. I have also published multiple pieces of writing, including fiction and poetry, and have helped students do the same.
