Hi, my name is Lydia!
I am currently a middle school teacher with over 13 years of classroom experience spanning pre-K through high school, along with years of dedicated 1-on-1 tutoring. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Indiana University, as well as three Master’s degrees: Bilingual Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education.
Throughout my career, I have taught both monolingual and dual-language classrooms. My extensive background in Special Education includes supporting students with ADD/ADHD, autism, dyslexia, executive functioning needs, cognitive delays, and visual impairments. This diverse experience has given me a deep toolkit of proven techniques to differentiate lessons and adapt to every student's unique learning style.
In addition to classroom teaching, my experience includes:
Targeted Tutoring & Assessment: 5+ years of after-school tutoring for grades 1st–5th, as well as 2 years assessing and pre-screening preschoolers for kindergarten.
Mentorship & Enrichment: Serving as a Children's Activities Coordinator (incorporating STEM and cooking) and mentoring student clubs, including a Girl’s Fitness Club and a middle school Sewing Club where students learn hand-sewing and machine techniques.
Remote Learning Expertise: Highly proficient with online learning tools including Zoom, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Kami, Seesaw, and document cameras to make virtual sessions interactive and seamless.
