About Tim

My passion for tutoring is related to my love of learning. My specialties include physics, math from pre-algebra to calculus and beyond, electrical engineering, and astronomy.

I've tutored teenagers and youths in mathematics and physics, taught college students in electronics, and trained professionals in electrical engineering. I have over 25 years of electrical engineering experience.

I am flexible with my time, but I do require a 24-hour cancellation notice. I meet students at suitable locations such as public libraries, but I’m willing to travel to another location that is more convenient for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in your education!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have assisted numerous students to improve their standardized test scores, including ACT Math.

Algebra 1

I am graduate-level educated electrical engineer with 30 years of engineering experience and ten years of teaching, training, and tutoring experience.

Algebra 2

I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. I have worked with students in all levels of math, from arithmetic fundamentals to algebra 2 and beyond.

Astronomy

I am an electrical engineer, and electrical engineers take a lot of physics courses, which are very relevant to astronomy. My course work included special relativity, quantum mechanics, astronomy, and astrophysics. I've been an amateur astronomer all my life. Finally, I worked at NASA when I was in college.

Calculus

One of the most demanding applications of calculus is engineering. I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University. I have over 25 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in design, development, test, applications, training, and sales. I also have six years of experience teaching electronics.

Differential Equations

I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Wayne State University. My degree included courses in differential and integral calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and even further advanced mathematics. I also have a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, which included even more advanced applications of mathematics such as random processes. I have 30 years of engineering industry experience. Finally, I have 10 years of teaching, training, and tutoring experience in mathematics, electrical engineering, and physics.

Electrical Engineering

I have a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University. I have over 25 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in design, development, test, applications, training, and sales. I also have six years of experience teaching electronics.

Geometry

I tutored many geometry students as a Mathnasium instructor for about a year. I am also an electrical engineer, with both bachelor's and master's degrees in the field. Engineering is a field with heavy applications of higher level math, from geometry to trigonometry to calculus and more.

Linear Algebra

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. I have over 25 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer. Linear algebra was the last in the four math class sequence and matrices (an inherent part of linear algebra) have been an occasional tool in my engineering career.

Physics

One of the most important applications of physics is electrical engineering.

Precalculus

I have 10 years of experience teaching, training, and tutoring math, physics, and electrical engineering and 30 years of experience in electrical engineering.
