Hi, I'm Sean — a registered nurse with a passion for helping students succeed in the sciences and on their journey through nursing school.

With years of experience working in emergency medicine and specializing in vascular access, I bring real-world clinical knowledge into every tutoring session. I hold the VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified), TNCC, PALS, ACLS and BLS credentials and have worked in high-acuity settings where quick, accurate clinical thinking isn't optional — it's essential. That experience shapes the way I teach: grounded, practical, and focused on helping concepts actually click.

I specialize in tutoring nursing and pre-nursing students in:

NCLEX prep (both RN and PN)
Anatomy & Physiology
Biology and Chemistry
Math (including dosage calculations and nursing math)
Fundamentals of nursing and clinical reasoning

Whether you're struggling with A&P, overwhelmed by NCLEX-style questions, or just need someone to break down a tough concept without the textbook jargon, I'm here for it. I know what it takes to get through nursing school because I've lived it — and I know the kind of support that actually makes a difference.
My approach is straightforward: I meet you where you are, figure out how you learn best, and build from there. No judgment, just progress.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

As a registered nurse working in emergency medicine, anatomy is the foundation of everything I do — from rapid patient assessment to procedural interventions like PICC line and midline catheter insertion, which require precise knowledge of vascular and upper extremity anatomy. My VA-BC certification reflects a deep understanding of anatomical structures relevant to vascular access, including vessel selection, nerve proximity, and landmark identification. I can help students connect anatomical concepts to real clinical application, making the material more intuitive and memorable. Whether you're preparing for an exam or trying to understand how anatomy shows up in practice, I bring both the academic foundation and hands-on perspective to make it click.
Drawing

Drawing

At Illinois Wesleyan University, I was a studio art minor and specialized in drawing and painting. Indeed, I am quite talented in both mediums, and can present pictures of my previous work. It has always been a hobby of mine, and I started an art club at my school in Mozambique.
Genetics

Genetics

For two years during my study at Illinois Wesleyan University, I worked as a research assistant in a genetics lab. I have completed courses in Molecular Genetics, Human Genetics and Basic Genetics. I have over 3 years of experience tutoring and teaching genetics, both during university and Peace Corps service.
NCLEX

NCLEX

I am a registered nurse with active experience in emergency medicine and vascular access, holding the VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified) credential. My clinical background spans high-acuity ED nursing, where strong prioritization, pharmacology knowledge, and rapid critical thinking are essential daily skills. I approach NCLEX prep by teaching students how to think through questions — not just memorize answers — with a focus on clinical reasoning, priority setting, and applying core concepts like pharmacology, pathophysiology, and nursing process. Whether you're a first-time test taker or retaking the NCLEX, I can help you build the confidence and strategy to pass.
Nursing

Nursing

I am a registered nurse with experience in emergency medicine and specialty certification in vascular access (VA-BC), bringing real-world clinical expertise into every tutoring session. Nursing school covers an enormous amount of material — pharmacology, pathophysiology, skills, and critical thinking — and I help students learn how to prioritize and connect concepts the way practicing nurses actually do. I specialize in helping nursing students who are struggling to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and clinical application, whether that's preparing for exams, understanding disease processes, or building confidence in their reasoning. My goal is to help you not just pass, but genuinely understand the material so you can practice safely and effectively.
Nutrition

Nutrition

Peace Corps volunteers must "wear many hats" during our service. Among my responsibilities in my village was to lead local nutrition clinics for the village mothers. Proper nutrition for the children is paramount to their survival, and I educated over 40 mothers each week on the importance of a balanced diet and proper hydration. I learned this subject through university and self study, and have experience teaching nutrition to a variety of different people.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I was a Biology/Chemistry double major at Illinois Wesleyan University, and have ample experience studying and teaching Organic Chemistry. This subject requires an incredible amount of time and study, and is primarily conceptual - I have experience teaching this subject to students with no prior chemistry education.
Painting

Painting

At Illinois Wesleyan University, I was a studio art minor and specialized in drawing and painting. Indeed, I am quite talented in both mediums, and can present pictures of my previous work. It has always been a hobby of mine, and I started an art club at my school in Mozambique.
Physiology

Physiology

am a registered nurse with hands-on emergency medicine experience, where applied physiology is critical to every patient encounter — from recognizing shock states and interpreting ABGs to understanding the pathophysiology behind DKA, sepsis, and cardiac dysrhythmias. My VA-BC certification deepened my understanding of hemodynamics, vascular physiology, and fluid dynamics as they relate to venous access and infusion therapy. I teach physiology by connecting concepts directly to clinical scenarios, helping students understand not just what happens in the body, but why — which makes the material far easier to retain and apply on exams. If you're struggling to move from memorization to true understanding, I can help bridge that gap.
Study Skills

Study Skills

While in the Peace Corps, the vast majority of my students had little to no idea of the rigors of proper study. I led multiple after-school lessons on proper study techniques and test taking skills. Furthermore, I myself have excellent study skills and have unique tips and tricks to teach my students.
