As an undergraduate in college, I tutored fellow students in math and business courses. After graduation, my tutoring has primarily been with ESL learners, although I have also worked with adults studying for their GED. Through my work, I have spent numerous hours training volunteers and staff on a wide variety of topics include resume creation, the Microsoft Office suite, tax law, and more. I completed my B.A. in Sociology and Global Studies and my M.A. in Social Policy. I also spent some time as a PhD student studying Public Policy before heading back into the world of social work to complete my MSW.
I enjoy tutoring because unlike a large classroom, tutoring is catered to meet each student's individual needs. I enjoy learning and having the opportunity to contribute to someone else's learning as well. It may be cliche, but it is truly rewarding when you are working with a student and suddenly the concept makes sense.
I specialize in writing assistance, I am happy to both work with you on editing specific papers and providing feedback to improve your writing in general. I tutor test prep, including the ACT, SAT, and GRE. I can also work with students on math from Algebra through basic calculus. I'm also happy to help with sociology and political science questions.
