Hello! I'm a tutor for everything related to the English language. <3 I am most interested in helping students learn all the skills needed for the English section of the ACT. Hello! I'm a tutor for everything related to the English language. <3 I am most interested in helping students learn all the skills needed for the English section of the ACT. No matter what your skill level is, I can meet you there! I taught all grades K-8 as a SPED teacher for 6 years. I was a co-teacher, so I developed lessons and provided extra help in small groups, 1:1, or for the whole class. This means that if you have any missing knowledge about: grammar, complex sentence structure (independent and dependent clauses), finding meaning in complex sentences (subject/predicate), or are not exactly sure how to use different punctuation (semicolons, dashes, colons), I am here and ready to help! Most recently, I was an English teacher for 5 years at a very highly rated test prep charter school in Chicago. I taught an after school ACT test prep class for some of the highest performers, and we did ACT (or SAT) prep almost every day in the classroom. I am here to help you decode all of the rules and types of questions on the ACT! All of my experience teaching the foundations of English in K-8 was super helpful when I taught ACT prep. I am very patient: no question is too tricky, and I encourage all questions. I take time to explain things in different ways: I will figure out exactly which part is confusing you, and I'll find a way to explain it and practice with you. I will encourage you every step of the way. I believe in you 100%, and I know your knowledge will increase with our sessions!

ADHD

ADHD

I worked with students on a daily basis that have ADHD. I developed lesson plans and added accommodations and modifications to existing lesson plans to ensure students with ADHD could succeed with the curriculum. I wrote IEPs and spoke with all related service providers (parents, nurse, social workers, counselors, case manager, etc.) at IEP meetings. I was a Special Education teacher and on the leadership team in my school to ensure all of the students with IEPs were represented in conversations about academic expectations.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I was a Special Education teacher for 6 years at a K-8 Chicago public school, and I co-taught English grammar, writing, and reading in all grade levels K-8. I was then a Special Education teacher, or "Learning Specialist" at a very high performing STEM school in the Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago, for 5 years. We did regular test prep (previously for the SAT; more recently for the ACT). Because of my skill base, I was hired by the school to teach an after school SAT prep class for the English section of the test.
