I have a B.S. degree in English from Northern Illinois University and an M.S. degree in Computer Science from DePaul University. I was a classroom teacher and taught language arts (English grammar, spelling, and writing) in the Chicago public schools for eight years. After that I worked in the business world as a technology manager. In two of my positions I managed corporate training groups and provided classroom training for local and international employees.
Three years ago, I started tutoring ESL students online. My ESL specialties are conversational English, written English, Business English and interview preparation. My current students range in age from teenagers to senior citizens. They live in Asia, South America, Europe and the United States. It has been incredibly rewarding to see my ESL students improve their written and spoken English skills. I have also enjoyed seeing their confidence grow as they mastered new elements of the English language. I was very proud to qualify as a Super Tutor with a rating of 4.9 out of 5.0 based on student feedback ratings.
Each student is unique. My teaching approach is to customize a learning plan that will help you to meet your goals. At our first meeting we’ll discuss your current skill level and identify your learning goals. After that I’ll develop a plan that will help you reach your goals. I’m also flexible. If your goals change we can always revise the learning plan. I am patient, kind and supportive. I always encourage my students to ask questions and communicate openly with me.
