While attending McKendree University, I began tutoring my peers in chemistry, physics, and math. After graduating with a Spanish major and math minor, I began working for Mathnasium (and later Sylvan), where I had the opportunity to teach students (ages 7-adult) using a more "outside the box" approach. That's when I realized the importance of tailoring lessons to not only meet the students' academic needs, but their personality needs, as well. Everyone learns at different paces and through different stimuli. I strive to provide a friendly environment where the student is comfortable to ask anything and everything. By really pinpointing trouble areas, we can work together to find the best-fit approach to meeting the students' goals.
I mainly focus on math, 4th grade through high school level (Pre-Calc), though I have worked with college students taking College Algebra and Calculus, as well. Over the years, I have also aided adults looking to refresh their skills as they need to study for nursing, teaching, and military entrance exams. Additionally, I would be eager to help out with any level Spanish work, (my major) as I have experience teaching a second language overseas (four years).
Whether it's elementary school homework, high school test prep, or adult standardized test review, I am happy to help!
