I am a current student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine with a strong background in health sciences, patient care, and mentorship. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Northeastern University, where I also served as a Husky Ambassador and Recruitment Co-Chair. Through my academic and clinical experiences, I have developed strong skills in biology, anatomy and physiology, health sciences, writing, study strategies, and communication. My path to medical school required mastering challenging coursework while balancing leadership, research, and clinical responsibilities, which allows me to help students not only understand material but also build confidence and effective learning habits.

I have experience mentoring and teaching students in both formal and informal settings, including one-on-one academic support, peer mentorship, and coaching within adaptive sports organizations. My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and individualized to each student’s learning style and goals. I focus on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply memorizing information. I also emphasize organization, test-taking strategies, critical thinking, and building long-term academic confidence. Because of my healthcare background, I am especially skilled at breaking down complex scientific and medical concepts into approachable explanations for middle school, high school, and college students.

In addition to academics, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my experiences in medicine, advocacy, and adaptive sports leadership. As someone who uses a hearing aid and cochlear implant, I understand the importance of communication, adaptability, and creating supportive learning environments where students feel comfortable asking questions. I strive to make tutoring collaborative, engaging, and encouraging so students feel empowered to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

I have a strong command of the grammar, punctuation, rhetoric, and editing skills tested on the ACT English section, demonstrated through my own high performance on standardized tests and extensive academic writing experience. As a student at Northeastern University with a background in public health research and scientific writing, I apply precise language and structural reasoning daily. I have experience identifying common ACT English question types — including sentence structure, word choice, transitions, and passage organization — and can help students develop both accuracy and confidence. My goal is to help students not just memorize rules but truly understand why answers are correct so they can apply that knowledge independently on test day.
EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

I am a nationally certified EMT, with certification in the NREMT as well as states of IL and MA. I have worked as an EMT for 4 years, in which time I worked on an ambulance full-time gaining a plethora of experience. I also used my EMT certification as a Boston Marathon medical volunteer, as a medical assistant for a primary care office, and as the scheduling coordinator for Northeastern University's EMS service.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have extensive experience with writing across a variety of formats, including research papers, persuasive essays, creative narratives, and professional communications. Through my coursework at Northeastern University and my work in public health and medicine, I have developed strong skills in evidence-based writing, proper citation, and clear argumentation. I have also written grant proposals, scholarly articles, and policy briefs through my leadership role at a national nonprofit organization. I am well-equipped to help students at all levels strengthen their writing from the brainstorming and outlining stages through final editing and proofreading.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

As a medical student who has just navigated the medical school interview process firsthand, I know exactly what interviewers are looking for and how to help you put your best foot forward. I bring additional insight from my experience in undergraduate admissions, where I have worked closely with prospective students and understand how institutions evaluate candidates from the inside. I specialize in helping students develop confident, authentic answers to common interview questions, from "tell me about yourself" to ethics scenarios and MMI-style prompts. Whether you are preparing for a traditional panel interview or a multiple mini interview format, I will help you walk in feeling prepared and walk out feeling good about it.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

As a medical student, I have just finished the application process — meaning I know exactly what works right now. I also was the as chair of my university's campus tours organization, giving me a front-row seat to how institutions present themselves to prospective students and what admissions culture actually looks like from the inside. I worked hand in hand with admissions experts and know what committees look for in writing and applicants. Whether you're starting from scratch or refining a draft, I'll help you find the story only you can tell.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I have developed strong proofreading skills through years of academic writing, research paper composition, and grant writing in both university coursework and nonprofit leadership. As a student at Northeastern University, I regularly review and refine complex documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and consistency, including peer-reviewed scholarly work and professional communications. Through my role at a national nonprofit organization, I have proofread grant proposals, policy briefs, and program materials that required a high level of precision and attention to detail. I am skilled at helping writers identify surface-level errors as well as deeper issues with sentence structure, word choice, and flow that can undermine an otherwise strong piece of writing.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have extensive public speaking experience gained through my roles as a Chair and Husky Ambassador, where I regularly communicate with diverse audiences in high-pressure, high-visibility settings. As a tour guide, I have spoken to groups of prospective students and families, developing the ability to engage, inform, and inspire audiences of all backgrounds. I have presented to crowds of over 1,000 people, including front-row engagements that demand confidence, clarity, and adaptability. Through these experiences, I have honed my skills in preparation, delivery, audience engagement, and thinking on my feet.

Great speech tutor and just a good, solid person.

Avery is a very effective, but empathetic and kind speech tutor for my son. Since public speaking isn’t his strong suit and because he had a speech impediment when he was younger—he’s a bit self conscious with public speaking. Avery helped him feel at ease and helped him know right away that they were on the same team. Avery helped him with pacing and pausing at important parts of his graduation speech. A big thanks to Avery!
