I have over fifteen years of experience tutoring to high school, college, and graduate students. My specialty lies in tutoring mathematics in several areas such as calculus, elementary/abstract algebra, linear algebra, differential equations, real/complex analysis, and topology. In my experience, I've found that students learn mathematics most efficiently through conceptual-based learning and active engagement in problem solving. Because of this, I will teach you problem solving strategies and help you improve mathematical proficiency through challenging problems. I will also help you build mathematical intuition needed to break down difficult concepts.

I give both individual and group sessions. I am usually available in the mornings and afternoons, but I'm flexible with students. My sessions are of two types; one for assigned work (homework, tests, etc.) and one centered on problem solving techniques and methods of proof. I assign problems once a week, to give you more practice with what you've learned. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but I offer makeup sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you! I'll help you succeed in your studies!

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

My area of research lies in the field of nonlinear partial differential equations. I have given a guest lecture on this course, where the focus was on Laplace transforms, convolution, and integro-differential equations. With my extensive knowledge of the subject, I believe I am qualified to tutor differential equations.
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

Having earned a master's degree in mathematics, I have the knowledge and experience necessary to teach discrete math. I have taken courses in logic, number theory, probability and statistics, and linear algebra; all these courses are a part of discrete math.
Finite Math,

Finite Math

Having received a master's degree in mathematics, I have the knowledge required to tutor finite math. Notably, I've taken courses in probability and statistics and linear algebra, both of which are a part of finite math. I have over five years experience teaching the subject to college students, using both conceptual and analytic approaches.
Geometry,

Geometry

Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have done graduate level work in linear algebra, which helps me see the subject from a broader perspective than someone who has only been exposed to undergraduate linear algebra. I have also tutored linear algebra using conceptual and problem-oriented approaches. In addition, I use linear algebra methods regularly.
Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

As an undergraduate, I conducted research in geophysical fluid dynamics at PSU. I have experience working with students on engineering statics and dynamics. I have also taught linear circuit analysis to many math, science, and engineering majors.

Eugenious for the win!

Eugene is hands down the best tutor I've had - full stop! He took problems that I viewed as Gordian Knots, verbally broke them into manageable pieces, rationally explained to me the I methods I originally viewed as nonsensical rubbish, and taught me meaningful problem solving. The tutoring I've had has usually resulted in frustration (and the occasional tears). Eugene's kindness, demeanor, and professionalism didn't make me feel dumb, as I do when tutors get frustrated with me. Thank you, Eugenious!

Extremely Knowledgable, Accessible and Helpful Tutor

Eugene and I worked on my Calc 2 problem sets and was very clear and patient as we worked through each problem together. He provides helpful tips and solutions on how to solve each problem and makes learning the subject enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Henry, 7 lessons with Eugene

Smartest/best math teacher on the internet.

After spending literally hours and days online trying to find the answer/explanation to a tricky calculus question, Eugene was able to explain it with razor clarity and concision. I wish I'd met him earlier in my math studies!!

Very knowledgeable, friendly and patient tutor

Eugene is a very patient and knowledgeable tutor. He helps me with proof based linear algebra and goes in depth on why things work the way they do. Every question I asked was answered clearly and helped me understand more about the concepts. He is very friendly and made the tutoring session very comfortable.

Worth every penny

Eugene is one of a FEW tutors that can help for higher level physics. He especially helped me understand the Feynman propagator and the path integral, Also he went in detail for a many body calculations. It is a good feeling having someone outside your peers and faculty to have on your side.

knowledgable and patient

Was very knowledgable and informative. Was very happy with experience. Would recommend if you need abstract algebra help. I set up a meeting within the next few days and was working with Eugene easily

Knowledgeable and Relaxed

His tutoring is quite relaxed and adaptable. He has a very impressive knowledge of a wide variety of topics. He helped me with writing a paper on symplectic geometry, a subject which is difficult to find people knowledgeable about. He helped me through examples and came up with a program that was easy enough to follow.

Eugene E was a great Math tutor

Eugene was a great tutor for my son while we was struggling in "Discrete Math" at UofA. He was patient and totally knowledgeable about the subject and my son felt it made a huge impact on his ability to understand the subject matter! Highly Recommend.

Amazing Tutor with focus on problem solving skills

Eugene was an incredible for my number theory class. I was really struggling with a concept and had received a C on my test. He helped me break down the problems I couldn't solve, went over them as many times as I needed with the same patience until I could understand the most basic elements, and helped me reconstruct the solutions. I now have valuable problem solving skills and step-by-step methods to approach my course's most difficult problems - the proof is in the 100% I received on the very next test! Thank you so much Eugene for helping me understand number theory on a much more clear level. Anyone who is struggling with learning how to solve really difficult problems using more basic skills would benefit immeasurably from Eugene's help!
