I began tutoring via federal work study in 2019 with a nonprofit organization called Project: VISION in Chicago. I was in person and online through COVID, continuing as a volunteer after I graduated with my bachelors. It was here that my passion for teaching started to blossom, especially when I saw students develop confidence in their schoolwork. I continued tutoring privately (online and in person) while pursuing my masters degree. At the same time I was working as a short-term and long-term substitute teacher at various local districts. Throughout this entire time I taught and tutored at the primary and secondary level, focusing on STEM-related subjects, but occasionally in English. Most recently, I taught high school science (physics, astronomy, geology, oceanography, and meteorology) for two years in Glenbard District 87 (unfortunately I had to leave for health reasons). My focus subjects are physics, astronomy, algebra, and calculus.

My approach to tutoring and teaching is tailored to each students’ needs. I prefer to give the student as much room as possible to think for him or herself while utilizing the teacher as a guide. If I see a student struggling, I will give suggestions to nudge them in the right direction, continuing to do so unless the student needs more support. That way, the student feels confident in his or her learning as well. After all, the best part about of being in education is seeing students through to their success, knowing that it was his or her hard work that paid off in the end. It makes me so proud!
