I’m Sheel! I’m an incoming medical student who graduated from Johns Hopkins University with degrees in Computer Science and Molecular & Cellular Biology. I scored over the 95th percentile on the MCAT on my first attempt after self-preparing. I’m Sheel! I’m an incoming medical student who graduated from Johns Hopkins University with degrees in Computer Science and Molecular & Cellular Biology. I scored over the 95th percentile on the MCAT on my first attempt after self-preparing. Through that process, I learned that the MCAT is all about pattern recognition, strategic reasoning, and deliberate practice, and I’m so excited to share those insights with you! I specialize in Bio/Biochem, Chem/Phys, and Psych/Soc, scoring 130+ in each.
I’ve been tutoring since high school and, more recently, led weekly small-group chemistry tutoring sessions for undergraduate students through the Johns Hopkins PILOT program. Many students requested to continue with me for the following semesters because of my teaching style. I focus heavily on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable explanations and am obsessed with helping students understand the “why” behind each concept. I am particularly passionate about helping students identify weaknesses through practice questions and teaching them how to review those questions efficiently to maximize improvement.
In our sessions, we will actively work through passages and practice problems together, analyze every answer choice before selecting a response, and build repeatable strategies you can apply independently. I strongly believe that properly reviewing mistakes is where the greatest score gains occur, and you will leave our sessions with a clear plan for what to review. Outside of sessions, I am happy to recommend high-quality resources and study approaches that helped me succeed (Anki, YouTube channels, etc.).
In addition to MCAT prep, I also tutor college-level biology (including genetics and molecular biology) and general chemistry. I’m also happy to share insights on the medical school application process. I know this process can be extremely stressful, so my goal is to make challenging material feel structured, manageable, and even enjoyable!
