Hi Wyzant learners! My name is Ani, and I have been tutoring within K-12 scope (Math, Science, English, Music, SAT, College Essay prep) for 5+ years, and am well educated myself from a top 10 US college with a 4.0 GPA in Data Science and Informatics, and graduated High school as a Magna Cum Laude, State Scholar, and AP Scholar with Distinction.

My name is Ani, and I have been tutoring within K-12 scope (Math, Science, English, Music, SAT, College Essay prep) for 5+ years, and am well educated myself from a top 10 US college with a 4.0 GPA in Data Science and Informatics, and graduated High school as a Magna Cum Laude, State Scholar, and AP Scholar with Distinction.

I began in-person tutoring within a local Math, English, and Science organization for K-5 (groups of 5-6 students), and then pivoted towards freelance online tutoring where I taught students multiple subjects, including middle school and high school Mathematics and English, and Violin music theory and instrument pre-basics as well (1:1). I am well versed in STEM + the arts as a musician of 12 years and arranger/composer as well! Some of my musical accolades include performing on a nationally acknowledged competitive collegiate acapella team, a diploma for South Asian classical singing, and 2nd place in the Illinois Music Association competition.

When it comes to teaching methods, I am especially experienced in teaching with patience
and creativity to adapt to a kid's needs! As a student who received tutoring herself, I understand how learning becomes boring if done with the same routine every day. I teach music composition with advanced training in music theory, harmony, and form. I was named to the National Music Theory Honor Roll (2022), completed multiple levels of KITS Illinois theory exams, and served as Music Director for an award-winning competitive a cappella team, creating 15+ arrangements for 1-part, 4-part, and 6-part ensembles. I compose and arrange for a cappella, strings, and orchestra, and teach composition and notation using MuseScore.

I have 3–5 years of experience tutoring K–6 students through a math organization that supported lower-income families, where I provided consistent academic support in small-group and 1:1 settings. I also taught K–5 students through a STEM organization, helping learners master grade-level skills and build confidence. I specialize in elementary math fundamentals (number sense, operations, fractions, word problems) and reading comprehension (fluency, vocabulary, short responses). I always use step-by-step explanations, guided practices using my official slideset, and short check-ins to ensure students understand concepts and can apply them independently.

As a mock interviewer for my professional fraternity, I have coached 60+ students in interview preparation for consulting, technology, and Fortune 500 roles, drawing on my own experience receiving offers from Fortune 500 companies. I have also conducted 50+ interviews as an interviewer for a nonprofit consulting organization (consulting casing), and a Product Space chapter (product casing and behaviorals). My preparation approach is informed by professional development training aligned with industry hiring standards used in top tech and consulting firms. I have repeatable interview frameworks that I instruct with that go beyond the typical STAR framework, to lead students to success.

I am a Suzuki and western classically trained violinist with a strong technical foundation of music theory. As a state-qualified second-place violinist, I bring high-level performance experience alongside a modern, student-centered teaching approach. I have completed multiple levels of the KITS Illinois music theory exams and was named to the National Music Theory Honor Roll (2022). My performance experience spans a wide range of settings, including pit orchestra, symphony orchestra, all-string orchestra, pop strings ensembles, fiddle and improvisation groups, as well as nonprofit performances for local churches, community events, and galas. This breadth allows me to teach both classical precision and stylistic versatility, helping students develop strong technique, musical understanding, and confidence across genres.

As a mezzo and alto singer for more than a decade (acapella, jazz, piano accompanied, european), I teach voice with a strong foundation in technique and ensemble. I hold an arangetram certification and KITS music theory certification, supporting both technical and theoretical vocal training. My Western vocal background is backed by honors choir awards and advanced ensemble placements, alongside 10+ years of choir experience. I am also a collegiate competitive a cappella singer on a nationally recognized team (2nd place), with experience in high-level rehearsal and performance settings. My approach emphasizes healthy vocal technique, pitch accuracy, blend, diction, and musical expression, helping students build confidence for auditions, performances, and ensemble singing.
