Hi! I'm Mrs. P, and I'm a certified substitute teacher in Naperville Community Unit School District 203. I have a Bachelor's in Science from Northwestern University and spent the first part of my career working in human resources where I honed the skills of effective communication, active listening, and course development and instruction. I took time off after the birth of my first child and committed those skills to raising my three honors students and serving in volunteer positions at their schools and scouting groups.
The need for substitute teachers during the Pandemic plus the joy of working with kids led me to earn my license from DuPage County as a sub and my current career with District 203. I have spent the majority of my time classroom teaching in grades K – 5 and am proficient in teaching various methods of the math, reading and writing curriculum used across all grades throughout the district. I've also had the opportunity to work with many students one on one to learn and/or hone their skills in those areas. In addition to elementary, I have also spent a significant amount of time in the junior high, and I have experience working in preschool, high school, PI+, and multineeds.
I am in the process of raising my three children: the oldest in a STEM degree in college, one going to college to study technology in the arts, and the youngest going into high school next year. Raising my kids has helped me to understand that education takes humor, patience, and an individualized process for each child. I relish the opportunity to work one on one with kids to meet them at their level and help them make it to the next one! I look forward to meeting your student and finding fun ways to help them learn and grow!
