I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University in 2015 and obtained my ESL endorsement from Northeastern Illinois University in 2017. Over the past 10 years, I have taught students with disabilities in both classroom and out-of-classroom settings. I have worked with students in grades K-5 across all academic subjects, addressing a wide range of disabilities, including learning, intellectual, and emotional disabilities.
In addition to my classroom experience, I’ve worked as a registered behavior technician, providing in-home services to high school students with Autism. This role deepened my understanding of behavioral interventions and how to apply them to support students outside of traditional educational settings. I worked directly with families to implement strategies and help students achieve their goals in their home environment.
Currently, I teach in a self-contained social-emotional classroom for students in grades 2-5. While our primary focus is on social-emotional learning (SEL), I also teach all core subjects, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education. My students work on emotional regulation, social skills, and empathy, which are crucial for their success both inside and outside of school.
Teaching is my passion, and I strongly believe that all students can succeed when they have an adult who believes in them. My approach is to tailor instruction to meet each student’s unique needs, whether I’m teaching in a small group, one-on-one, or within a classroom. I understand that every student learns differently, and I strive to create an inclusive environment where all students can thrive. I’m committed to fostering both academic and personal growth, and I’m excited to continue making a positive impact in the lives of my students.
