Hi, I'm Adra! I am an experienced English educator with eleven years of classroom teaching experience. I earned my Psychology degree from Governors State University, which has given me a strong understanding of student behavior, motivation, and learning needs. Throughout my career, I have taught all high school grade levels—freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors—helping students grow in their reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills.

I have taught at two large and diverse high schools in the Dallas, Texas area: DeSoto High School and Duncanville High School. In these roles, I worked with a wide range of learners, including both general education and special education students. I specialize in supporting students with accommodations by developing 504 plans, differentiating instruction, and ensuring that individual learning needs are met. My teaching style blends structure, empathy, and personalized support to create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment.

My experience includes whole-class instruction, small-group learning, and individualized support, allowing me to adapt to a variety of teaching settings. I have worked with students ages 14–18 and have taught everything from foundational English skills to advanced coursework. Whether I am leading a full classroom, providing targeted interventions, or supporting a student one-on-one, I strive to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and help every learner reach their full potential. I also tutor after school especially during testing time when students need the most support. I help them with English and Math homework.
