Bachelor of Arts (Political Science)
Eastern Illinois University (Master's)
After completing my military service (USAF) IN 1971, I successfully completed my Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Political Science from Eastern Illinois University. Upon graduation in 1979, I accepted a position as an instructor in political science at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where I taught courses in American Government, Comparative Politics, and International Relations from 1979-1984. For personal reasons (pending engagement), I relocated to New York, where I was employed as an insurance broker for a Fortune 500 company, eventually being promoted to Senior Vice President. In February 1992, following the Gulf War, I was sent to Kuwait to open an insurance brokerage office. I managed the office for five years, recording record profits during that period.
In 1996, my family and I decided to move to Amman, Jordan for both personal and professional reasons. Personally, my wife was Lebanese, and had numerous relatives living in both Lebanon and Jordan. Professionally, with the pending ending of the sanctions imposed upon Iraq following the Gulf War, there appeared to be substantially rewarding business opportunities which would be opening. During the first year in Jordan, I was recruited by the State Department to serve as an intelligence officer, responsible for establishing contacts inside of both Lebanon and Syria. After working for State through 2011, I decided to take early retirement and move back to the United States, which I did in October 2012. Since relocating to LaSalle, Illinois, I have been employed as a part-time faculty member, responsible for courses in Modern World History and American Government.
Given my plethora of international experiences, in both the private and public sectors, I believe I can offer unique perspectives for intellectually curious individuals as well as strong pedagogical support in their efforts to master the essentials of college-level courses in political science and history. Since I am retired, I am readily available, bot on-line and in person, to address the specific needs of young adults in the quest for knowledge.
I welcome the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications and what I can bring to the table should anyone be interested in securing my services.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
